What the work looks like here

Carmarthenshire is a different mix from the Haven. Less oil and gas, more general manufacturing and agriculture: fabrication and coatings units on the Llanelli estates at Dafen and Trostre, food processing and cold storage around Cross Hands, engineering and vehicle workshops in Ammanford and Carmarthen, agricultural merchants and fuel depots serving the farms, and a growing number of small breweries and distilleries. Most of those sites store or use something DSEAR covers — solvents, welding gases, LPG, diesel, flammable dust — and most have never had a DSEAR assessment.

Typical Carmarthenshire jobs

Travel and batching

Carmarthenshire is outside our no-travel-charge zone but close enough that travel is modest and usually absorbed when two or more sites are done on the same day. Groups with a Pembrokeshire site and a Llanelli site are quoted as one job. Most sites needing DSEAR also need a fire risk assessment recorded in full, and we do both in the same visit; see fire risk assessments across west Wales.

Who enforces here

HSE for most industrial sites; Carmarthenshire County Council's environmental health and petroleum officers for retail, hospitality, garages and forecourts; Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service for the fire safety side. All of them want the same file — here is what it contains.

Questions we get asked

Do you charge travel to Llanelli or Carmarthen?

Carmarthenshire sits just outside the no-travel-charge county, so a modest travel element is included in the fixed quote. Where two sites are done on the same day it is usually absorbed.

Can you do the fire risk assessment at the same time?

Yes. Most DSEAR sites also need a recorded fire risk assessment, and one visit producing two documents that agree with each other is cheaper and cleaner for everyone.

How quickly can you get to a Carmarthenshire site?

Normally within two weeks for a scheduled visit, faster where a tender or inspection deadline is pressing. The scoping call is free and same-day.

Tell us what you store and we'll tell you where you stand

No charge for the conversation. Most quotes go out the same day.
